Our essential question for this unit is: How do communities evolve? Student Objectives: Read and analyze personal journals, diaries, and informational text about the past. Share ideas with peers Build vocabulary knowledge Write informational, narrative, and opinion texts. We will also continue in our class novel, Bound for Oregon. This book is about a family that takes the trip to Oregon! We are close to finishing! Writing: We will continue writing in our Oregon Trail journals this week. Spelling: Students do not have a spelling test this week. They will receive their next list on Friday. Their next test will be on Friday, March 29th. Vocabulary: Digitize: convert (pictures or sound) into a digital form that can be processed by a computer Renewable Energy: sources of energy that will never run out. Example: solar energy and wind energy Wavelength: the distance from one crest (highest or lowest point of a wave) to the next crest, or one trough to the next trough Social Studies: We will continue to integrate social studies into reading and writing with our Bound for Oregon novel and Oregon Trail journals.
