Important Dates:
Tuesday, December 7th: Fastbridge Math assessment Friday, December 10th: Spelling Test (last one for the semester!) Thursday, December 16th: Holiday party @11:15 and a Half day! Friday, December 17th: No school! Winter Break! Math: We will continue in Unit 7: Patterns and Sequences! This week we will focus on input and output tables. Students will come up with possible rules and test them out until the find the rule for the table. There can be some tricky rules! Reading: This week we are reading letters that different people have written to Santa. We are using inferencing skills and context clues to determine who wrote the letters to Santa. Phonics: Our suffix we will focus on this week is -ful. Students will apply their knowledge of this suffix in their writing and on their spelling test. Grammar: We have finished our Elf for Hire opinion writing and are now doing one more opinion essay. Students are determining who has the hardest job at the North Pole and writing about their opinion using evidence. Second Step: This week we will complete Lesson 13. This lesson is about Managing Anxiety. Students will learn and practice strategies to calm down when they are feeling anxious. Science: This week we are continuing in our Life Science unit. Today we started an experiment with celery! Ask your kiddo about it! We will also move on to the structure and function of different animals this week. This unit will be continued after winter break as well.
