Wednesday, September 22nd: 2 hour delayed start Friday, September 24th: Spelling Test Wednesday, September 29th: Chapter 3 Math Test and Half-day of school Wednesday, September 29th and Thursday, September 30th: Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st: No School Wednesday, October 6th: Midwest Regions Test Math: This week, we will continue in Chapter 3: Understand Multiplication and Division. Students will learn the Multiplication properties and Division Rules. They will also learn Factors and Multiples. Please continue to practice those multiplication facts at home! Reading: We will continue in Unit 2 of Benchmark Advance. This week we will read How Dorothy Saved the Scarecrow. We will continue to focus on character traits. Writing: Students have started planning and drafting their Fairy Tales! Some students have chosen to write a fractured fairytale and some are making up their own! We will talk about the writing process as we go through it with our first writing unit. Ask your child what stage of the writing process they are in! Phonics: The suffix we will focus on this week is -ing. Students will practice adding -ing to the end of words and using them as verbs, adjectives, and nouns. Second Step: We will not do a new second step lesson this week. Instead, we will take our My Saebres and BrightBytes social emotional surveys on Wednesday. Social Studies: Today we start our first region! We will kick off the 5 regions with the Midwest. Students made flashcards in class to study. These should be brought back and forth between home and school to study. Students will need to locate the states and know their capitals for their test on Wednesday, October 6th. In class, we will be learning about the history, land, production, natural resources, climate, and landmarks of the region. News from PRE: Parent/Teacher Conferences Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on September 29 in the late afternoon and evening as well as all day and evening on September 20. Families have the option of meeting in person or virtually. If you choose to meet in person, masks are required. Please use the link below to sign-up.
