Upcoming Dates:
Tuesday 10/31: Parade and Class Parties @2:45 Thursday 11/2: 4th Grade Program @6:30 Tuesday 11/7: Topic 5/6 Math test Math: We will continue in Topic 5 and 6 this week. Our review over these topics will be on Monday 11/6 and our test on Tuesday 11/7. These two topics are combined to teach about multiplying double digit and single digit numbers. These units will focus on learning a variety of strategies to help students find the best way for them to multiply. At times, your student might get frustrated since they are learning a new strategy. We are encouraging them to try each strategy when it is taught. By the end of this unit there will be a variety of ways students will get to the same answer. It is always fun to see which one works for them! Here is a list of some of the strategies:
Spelling: No spelling this week! ELA: We will finish Unit 2 this week! This has been such a fun unit learning about the different elements of a fairy tale, watching fairy tales, reading fairy tales, and getting to write our own! On Friday, 11/3 we will share our Fairy tales with our Kinderbuddies. 4th graders have the option to dress up for this or bring props in if it goes along with their story. Science: We will continue in our Life Science Unit this week. Students will learn about the Physical and Behavioral Adaptations of animals. A message from Ms. Newman: Art to Remember 2017! Your student has been hard at work completing a work of art for the Art to Remember Program in art class. Art to Remember creates personalized products that feature high quality imagery of your child’s artwork. Your child will be bringing home a personalized order form that features their artwork they created and the products available for purchase. Products will be delivered to school in time for students to bring home before winter break. These would make great keepsake gifts for the holidays! A portion of proceeds from the program benefit the PRE Art Program and enable our students to work with a variety of materials that support a well-rounded art education. A message from Ms. Omo: “PRE’s 4th grade class has been busy preparing for their upcoming music program on November 2nd. Their program is called, “Thank You Veterans” and we would like to extend an invite to all who can come. If you are or know a Veteran or active member of the military that is able to attend our program, we would love for them to come! Day: Thursday, November 2nd Times: Morning Performance: 9:15am in the PRE Gym Evening Performance: 6:30pm in the PRE Gym If you have any questions, please email Miss Omo at [email protected]. We are looking forward to seeing you there!” A message from Mrs. Fulcher: Have you heard of the Hour of Code before? This is an hour that is set aside each year to introduce students to computer science and programming. Similar to the Day of Play that PRE participated in last year, PRE will have a Day of Code on Friday, December 8. We are in the beginning stages of planning this and would appreciate any assistance from our community! If you know of anyone in the computer science and programming field who would be a great contact for us as we plan this day, please let me know. We are looking for people who would be interested in being a guest speaker, have ideas for activities, or would be willing to run an activity. We are hoping to fill the day with great coding opportunities! Please email PRE principal, Kristel Fulcher, [email protected].
