Thursday, August 26th: Fast Bridge Reading Assessment Tuesday, August 31st: Picture Day Monday, September 6th: No School Wednesday, September 22nd: 2 hour delayed start Wednesday, September 29th and Thursday, September 30th: Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st: No School Math: This week we will finish up Chapter 1 over Place Value. Students will review this chapter on Tuesday, August 24th and will test on Wednesday, August 25th. We will not start Chapter 2 until next week since we have Fastbridge testing this week as well. Students will continue to bring home their homework pages from their workbook each night. These should be completed and returned to school the next day. We do not have homework on Fridays. Students will be getting quizzed on their Multiplication facts this week! They will have flashcards for the facts they are working on. They will continue to be quizzed every other week as they work to pass all the facts! Knowing our multiplication facts helps tremendously with 4th grade math! Reading: We will continue focusing on the Story Elements this week as we read Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Students are loving this book and are eager to read more each day. This week we will be reading Chapter 4-8. We will discuss Character traits, Plot, and Problem/Solution. Ask your child about what Fudge is up to in our story! He is quite the character!! Phonics: Students will review the 7 syllable types this week. We will focus on vowel teams, the magic e, and controlled r's. Writing: We will begin our Capitalization, Punctuation, and Paragraph writing review this week. Students will learn to identify subjects and predicates in sentences and be able to identify sentence fragments and run-on's. Social Studies: We will continue in our Geography unit this week. Students will learn to use map grids and longitude and latitude. Students will also be looking at the different types of maps. By the end of the week, students will start working on making their own map! Second-Step Lesson 2: Listening with Attention
