Wednesday, September 15th: Chapter 2 Math Test Friday, September 13th: Spelling Test Wednesday, September 22nd: 2 hour delayed start Wednesday, September 29th and Thursday, September 30th: Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st: No School Math: We will be finishing Chapter 2 this week! We will review on Tuesday and test on Wednesday! Our next chapter is Chapter 3, Understand Multiplication and Division. There is a lot of vocabulary in this chapter. We will learn the properties of Multiplication and Division, factors and multiples, and how multiplication and division relate to each other and to subtraction and addition. Reading: This week we will continue in Unit 2 of Benchmark Advance. This unit is full of Fairytales and Fables. It is a lot of fun! We will continue focusing on characters actions and reactions and what this tells us about them. Writing/Grammar: We will finish up our paragraph writing unit and be ready to move on to Fairytale writing! We will explore different fairytale books and the elements of a fairytale. Students will also learn about Fractured Fairytales and begin planning/writing their own! Phonics: This week, we will be focusing on the suffix -ed. Students will learn the rule of when to add -ed to a word, when to drop the y and add -ied, or when some words don't need -ed. Our spelling words will focus on the ea vowel team. Science: We will continue in our Physical Science Unit this week. Students will explore electric circuits. We will finish this unit this week with a test on Friday. Next week we will be starting our first region, the Midwest! Second Step: This week we will be doing Lesson 5. This lesson is about Understanding Complex Feelings. News from PRE: Parent/Teacher Conferences Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on September 29 in the late afternoon and evening as well as all day and evening on September 20. We will get to go behind the scenes of the cougar exhibit with the help of the cougar caretakers. After the virtual trip you will get a chance to build your very own mascot! Purchase an unstuffed 16” cougar kit at the link below. Students will also make a craft and get their photo taken with their cougar. If you are unable to join us on October 14th, you can still purchase a kit and stuff your cougar at home.
