2nd Quarter Book Report Due Dates: Books and Project Selected and Approved by Teacher – Monday, October 31st Final Project due - Monday, December 5th Math: Students will continue working on Topic 7: Multiplying by Double Digit Numbers and Topic 8: Building Fluency with Multiplying by Double Digit Numbers. Students will continue to practice the strategies that worked for them with single digit multiplication. Check out the enVision website on the Student Quick Links to see the math book and videos from the lessons! We will finish up this topic on Thursday with the Topic 7 and 8 Test. Students will have an in class math project assigned on Monday, November 7th. Students will work with a partner to plan a Thanksgiving Meal using the data they collected from the grocery store. Students will finish and present these to the class the week of Thanksgiving. Spelling: This week there will be a list test. Students need to practice spelling the words correctly. They are the same words as last week. Reading: Students are reading different novels in their small reading groups during Daily 5 time and have independent reading and assignments to work on in class. This week the kiddos will learn about progressive verb tenses. Writing: Informative Writing Students will work on the Six Traits of Writing with a focus on Organization as they learn about informative writing. We will begin making our final edits and printing off our final papers! Students will be bringing home their rough drafts to have a parent, adult, or older sibling read over it for them and make any edits needed early in the week. Science: We started our Life Science unit. Students are learning how structure and function are in our everyday lives. This week they will look at the structure and function of animals. Social Studies/Regions: Students will begin learning about their 3rd Region. Students should be working on memorizing the states, capitals, and their location. For the first week, it is good to focus on memorizing the states and correct capital. Once they have that mastered, they should start working on the location of the state. The test over this region will be on Friday, November 18th. Kremer: Southeast Eaton: West Harrison: Southwest Shaffer: Northeast Day of Play!! November 15th! PRE is doing a Day of Play this year. For this, we need a lot of recyclables! Please send these in if you have any. Everything will be recycled at the end of the Day of Play. We could use Cardboard, toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, empty plastic containers, anything!
